Let sci-fi inspire you! So states the mantra of this new 25-piece limited series with a case as bright as the alloy of a very famous droid.
A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away… May 4th has become a highly-symbolic date for hordes of fans of the Star Wars saga. The Urwerk team is definitely among these aficionados as it’s on this date that the independent Geneva-based brand decided to unveil its newest creation whose case color is somewhat reminiscent of that which the protocol droid C-3PO flaunted. As such, the futuristic-looking case (41×49.7×14 mm) of the UR-100 Gold Edition with its satin-brushed finish is sculpted in a block of solid 2N yellow gold.
Dial-wise, we discover a satellite display with, this time round, markers boasting bright green, obtained by using Super-LumiNova®. The central tricephalic mechanism displays the current time. The large stylized hand hovers over the minute scale graduated from 0 to 60. The two lateral apertures are still present. The first at 10 o’clock features the numbers 555.55 km and the acronym “rotat“. This distance corresponds to the one traveled by anyone located on the equator over 20 minutes. In the second slot set at 2 o’clock, 35,742 km and “revol” are inscribed. This data evokes the journey of the Earth around the Sun over this same period of time.
Time data is still driven by the automatic 12.01 caliber (48 hours’ power reserve) powered by a bidirectional rotor and regulated by a profiled helical system known as Windfänger which can be admired through the sapphire-crystal caseback.
