Ulysse Nardin Skeleton X Sparkling The new Ulysse Nardin Skeleton X Sparkling shares much in common with the Skeleton X, an openworked timepiece launched in January 2019. However, where the Skeleton X Sparkling differs from its older sibling is that it is embellished with a total of 149 diamonds and includes a colour-coordinated barrel cover. Ulysse Nardin was founded in 1846 and soon became known for making highly accurate marine chronometers. However, despite having a long and impressive history, the brand has not chosen to dwell in the past. Indeed, it has often been at the vanguard of horological innovation. For example, the Maison was one of the pioneers of silicon technology, an area of expertise which several years later remains the preserve of only a few firms. In January 2019, the Manufacture unveiled the Skeleton X. The model still remains a member of the present-day collection and is offered in a number of variants. Consistent with the company’s avant-garde mindset, the watch brims with modernity. The skeletonised movement masterfully showcases the barrel, gear train, motion works, winding mechanism and balance. There are few secrets left untold. Part of this watch’s allure is the way the dial interestingly plays with shapes. The indexes at 1, 5, 7 and 11 o’clock are elongated, forming an X-shape.
