SAME SPIRIT, EXTRA PERFORMANCE
With this new limited series, the legendary chronograph pursues its links with the Principality of Monaco. Its strong point: the presence of the Calibre Heuer 02 which replaces the Calibre 12.
The Grand Prix de Monaco Historique, which takes place every other year, races on the same circuit as the mythical Monaco Grand Prix F1 race. During this race, over 200 drivers behind the wheel of historic racing cars vie for the title. This year, and despite the fact the event had to be cancelled, TAG Heuer became its sponsor and official timekeeper. To celebrate this nomination, the La Chaux-de-Fonds’ watchmakers unveil a 1,000-piece limited-edition Monaco model. On this iconic motor-racing-related timepiece, we discover all the features of its contemporary version. The 39 mm-sided square steel case, waterproof to a depth of 100 meters, adorns polished and brushed finishes. It protects a dial showcasing alternating sunray-brushed red and metallic gray. The small seconds and the chronograph totalizer pursue their bi-compax position inaugurated on the original 1969 model. The sapphire-crystal caseback, commemoratively stamped with the race name, invites to admire the skeletonized oscillating weight.
The watch hosts the modern Calibre Heuer 02 set at a frequency of 4 Hz. This self-winding movement provides the time data with a rather considerable power reserve of around 80 hours.
Until the next edition of this must-not-miss event for vintage car enthusiasts comes around, from 23 to 25 May 2021, the Monaco Grand Prix de Monaco Historique is available accompanied by a vintage-style perforated calfskin strap attached by a folding clasp.
