Thank you so much Arthur. The brand was lost during the Great Depression. There have been attempts to resurrect it, first by American investors making cheap watches and later with Danish and Swiss capital making “haute horlogerie” in recent years, but I don’t know if the venture worked.

Wow! What a rich history of the family lineage and the brand along with accomplishments. These are some exquisite pockets watches.
From time to time I see the name Jules Jürgensen on what looks to be relative inexpensive watches piled in a thrift store bulk box. I assumed it was just an off brand. I never knew the history behind the name. Are they still producing any watches? I know I’ve seen more modern pieces but may not even been the same brand anymore. Very interesting story. Thanks for sharing!!!

Es difícil de entender desde nuestro punto de vista actual, pero los relojes de Urban Jürgensen, a parte de ser excepcionales a nivel tecnológico, reportan un trabajo manual muy importante. Uno de los últimos que se vendió alcanzó en subasta el millón de dólares. El reloj que presento ya es de su nieto (4 generación) que realizaba unos 300 relojes al año.

Como siempre magnífico artículo documentado. Me ha llamado la atención que aunque murió joven sólo hiciera 751 relojes en toda su vida. Esto da una idea de las horas que invertían en cada reloj el equipo de artesanos.
También nos dice lo difícil que es encontrar uno y además que funcione.
