Czapek & Cie designed and conceived the caliber SXH5 in-house. The Swiss made automatic was made in collaboration with undisclosed partners, meaning the design and movement are exclusive but manufactured partially or completely outside of the company’s workshops.

The movement is unique and finished to a very high level with a blackened finish on the bridges, mainplate, and many of the other components. An 18K gold off-center micro-rotor winds the mainspring to 56-hours (minimum) and 70-hours (maximum).

A free-sprung balance wheel with four variable inertia screws offers precise levels of adjustment compared to an index regulator. Plus, a dual contact (traversing) balance bridge holds the balance wheel and balance spring in place and prevents against shocks better than a single-sided bridge. The gear train is held in place by a series of seven handsome skeletonized bridges in total.

The movement architectural design is reminiscent of lace, inspired on one side by XIX century pocket watches, and by the very modern Czapek Faubourg de Cracovie chronograph’s rotor.

The movement has premium finishing with hand chamfered and polished edges, as well as polished jewel sinks and screws.

Overall, the aesthetic is distinctive and impressive, without being ostentatious.
